Lansakara

Our House

A patient craft, passed down by hand.

Lansakara was founded in Ratnapura — the City of Gems — by a family that has worked beside Sri Lankan cutters and silversmiths for three generations.

01

Sourced at origin

We buy directly from cutters in Ratnapura, Meetiyagoda, and Beruwala — never through brokers. Provenance is in our books, not on the box.

02

Cut by hand

Every gem is finished on traditional lapidary wheels, with cuts proportioned to the rough rather than to a calibrated weight.

03

Set in Colombo

Our silversmiths fabricate each setting from 925 sterling in our Colombo workshop. No cast inventories — only made-to-order pieces.

A good stone shouldn't shout. It should hold the light, the way a quiet voice holds a room.

— Pradeep Lansakara, third-generation cutter

Process

Slow trade, by design.

  1. 01

    Select the rough

Every parcel inspected under both daylight and tungsten — we walk away from more than we buy.

  2. 02

    Cut for colour

Each gem is oriented to maximise its colour saturation, not its retained weight.

  3. 03

    Certify

Independent reports from GIA, GRS, or the Gem & Jewellery Authority of Sri Lanka, on request.

  4. 04

    Set & deliver

Set in 925 sterling in our Colombo studio, then shipped insured across the island.
